The fields of Lincolnshire are a long way from the West Country but that's where Tim and Simon Jones make their delicious award winning cheddar. It's made to the same traditional methods as Somerset cheddar, but with a few (secret) differences that give Lincolnshire Poacher its unique fruity, nutty and sweetflavours.
First made in 1992, the early batches of Lincolnshire Poacher were so popular that customers were rationed to a quarter of a pound each. Thankfully supply has now been sorted out and you can eat it to your heart's content. It is at its best at 2 years of age - and that's how we sell it.
What with? Like all great cheddars Lincolnshire Poacher loves hearty chutneys and pickles and is best paired with a strong red like our Chianti Classico Riseccoli, but equally happy with a beer, especially if it's the star turn in a ploughman's lunch.
